My desk is a mess

I hope your work rooms will be tidy

Ray bradbury illustrated man

Dear yooki,

I really liked his story kaleidoscope from his book thr illustrated man - its about a bunch of astronauts that went swirling away in all directions after their rocket blew up. They are all falling in different direction and one of them is miserable about his empty life.

Its just too poignant. And revealing. Maybe for scifi authors it is important to have their philosophy in place so they can write their magic better.

Love,
Mummy

Why representation matters

I think representation matters not just for validation or for acknowledgement of minority (whether it be women or gays or trans or people of color), but it matters because it also shapes our society.

Making this film has been so tough and I always pretend that it is easy to have a career but also be a working mother in a nuclear set up and deal with interrupted sleeps and creative challenges but its not and there are times you just give up. Like though I try to be particular with my happiness and fitness last 15 days I have not taken any care at all.

And its such a quicksand - you stop for a week and it takes all the more efforts to get back on your feet.

The other is challenges for travel for work. In mumbai everything is 3 hours to and fro combined for me. And to have any participation at work I have to do so many mental maths and planning.

And then I wonder if other single or married men have those challenges. I am sure they would have but just when I compare the flexibility that is available to your dad and me I know its different.
I want to be a trailblazer but I also want other women to know that they can look uncool - cleaning their kids diapers, breast feed and still make their first film. I want other investors to know and believe when they see a sort of overweight faded beauty kinda woman walk to them asking for work after haven't being able to work for last 2 years because they were raising a tiny human, they better fucking pay up, I want other young coworkers to know that if your director doesn't fit the mythology of a sexy brooding male director but is a clumsy mom figuring her way through this darkness you better realize that the project you are working on is the best fucking project of your life.

I want my representation because through me and many such women like me - other women would know they can go beyond surviving. They can win.

The Book of Games

In 1238, the medieval Spanish ruler Alfonso X of Castile published a tome called Libro de los Juegos,  or The Book of Games. It consisted of 97 parchment pages, many with beautiful color illustrations, and contains the earliest descriptions of games such as chess, dice, and backgammon.

Alfonso went on to classify games into three categories: games that are played on horseback, games played dismounted (such as fencing and wrestling), and games played seated. He divided this third category even further into games that rely on the brain, games of chance, and games that rely on both.

In making these distinctions, Alfonso is the unofficial founder of a field of science known as ludology—the study of games.

These games can be modeled as mathematical entities that lend themselves to computational study. This is based on the idea that games are composed of units of information called ludemes, such as a throw of the dice or the distinctively skewed shape of a knight's move in chess.

Ludemes are equivalent to genes in living things or memes as elements of cultural inheritance. They can be transmitted from one game to another, or they may die, never to be seen again. But a key is that they can be combined into bigger edifices that form games themselves.

Holiday before school starts

You have to remember this for a long long time...

"You have to remember this for a long long time ..."
"In 1992, the artist Thomas Bayrle wrote that the great mistakes of the future would be that as everything became digital, we would confuse memory with storage. What's important about genuine memory and how it differs from digital storage is that human memory is imperfect, fallible, and malleable. It disappears over time in a rehearsal and echo of mortality; our abilities to remember, distort and forget are what make us who we are.

We have built the infrastructure that makes it impossible to forget. As it hardens and seeps into every element of daily life, it will make it impossible to remember. Changing what it means to remember changes what it means to be."

My papa

I have a xerox shop opposite out house, but I found it too much a hassle to look for a pendrive, and give my script to print so I ask my dad to do it from Nasik & courier me.
Then I realized how ridiculous that idea is but my dad just called me asking why I haven't sent him the script yet.

The universe

"The universe will always be much richer than our ability to understand it,"

You are growing up too fast

I miss the baby you but thankfully you are still your cuddly best and now that you talk so much, I feel there is potential for a true friendship here :).

I also like how extremely imaginative you are. You keep playing with your rubber animals for hours making stories about them like going to doctor, doing activities like I saw a tiny rubber duck driving the minnie mouse car.
You have proper plots like baby rubber animals eating minnie's cake and cat burger being summoned to rescue the cake.

Also recently the key players of your stories are mummy and baby unicorns (they are unicorn rubber puzzles but u have replaced unicorn bodies with panda bodies) and when i talk to u about them u try to hide the fact and just call them by the colors- blue and purple and you ask me to not look when you are talking and playing with them.

Dear yoo bask in your creativity- remember enthusiasm and confidence is all you need to do anything in life. (And grit and hardwork, patience, strategies, love and respect for elders and the young- the list never ends).

Ah we have been doing lots of coloring and we call our sketch book "mummy plus yooki sketch book".

I was reading a lot about solitude and it's power in nourishing - basically read an essay on it - on how spending time with yourself more alone makes your vision clearer and you being to recognize sources of true happiness.
I have started being more withdrawn and alone (having zero expectations from people) and I have found newer avenues to learn and express myself reading and drawing- its improving my concentration too. Anyways i have mummy, you, papa, zain zenish and all for good company if i need.

I was reading a scifi story on lookism where people install a pharmaceutical switch call neurostat so that they dont discriminate based on attractiveness. And debates around that.

And yeah in last few pages of my script. It took me 2-3 months to think but i managed to write it in 1.5 months so I get worried if what I wrote is not too sketchy. This is the first draft though and i hope i add more dimensions soon. I am really happy with all that I am exploring with it.
