- Backdrop is very important - Microcosm to represent human nature. Colorful Characters, Extreme Human Emotions.

- Larger than Life Characters keep you more invested and also makes them unpredictable

- Morder scene is the beginning. Start with the "earthquake". Work the story and the murder and the event

- Plot Twist in the End is important

- Make sure the murderer isn't the only bad guy

- Detective is an outsider and observer of this weird world.

- Story Should move very fast

- Avoid stereotypes - memorable villain with unique details

- Map your darkest moments

- Plot cues, twists, and red herrings are important
