If something is of big scale, shoot not for if but for film- means see how it fits your story and edit


When shooting extras, check in big monitor


Dont move on from a controversial shot unless seeing playback

Notes while directing

See all the actors in the frame and their performances

Dont move forward if you are not satisfied, call cut earlier and move on faster


Tell actors entry and exit points clearly

Act like you are the boss- proactively decide everyone else is dumber than you
